LP® Partnerships


LP partners with government, industry, institutions, and nonprofit groups to achieve positive results through communication and collaboration. These partnerships have helped LP develop programs that are in the best interest of the company, our community and the environment.

Multi-State Working Group MSWG on Environmental Management Systems

The Multi-State Working Group, or MSWG, is a consortium of international regulators, nongovernmental organizations, industry representatives, and members  academia who promote the use and improvement of environmental management systems and sustainable practices. Members meet quarterly to discuss issues related to environmental management systems and sustainability, as well as the use of EMS programs in innovative regulatory programs.
 
American Forest and Paper Association AF&PA

AF&PA is the national trade association of the forest, paper and wood products industry. It represents member companies engaged in growing, harvesting and processing wood and wood fiber; manufacturing pulp, paper and paperboard products from both virgin and recycled fiber; and producing engineered and traditional wood products. LP works with AF&PA on programs that focus on recycling efforts and the advancement of sustainable forestry practices. We are working together to advance the industry's domestic and global competitiveness, while improving the environment.

As member of AF&PA, LP subscribes to its 8 principles of environmental health and safety.
 
United States Environmental Protection Agency U.S. EPA

LP partners with the U.S. EPA on its WasteWise Program. WasteWise is a free, voluntary EPA program through which U.S. organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste, benefiting their bottom line and the environment.

LP also participates in the EPA’s Performance Track Program, which recognizes leading operations utilizing Environmental Management Systems to perform beyond baseline environmental requirements, benefiting the environment and business. Since 2003, our Carthage, Texas OSB facility is a member of this highly esteemed program.  We are pursing membership for additional facilities, recognizing their  leadership in environmental management and performance. In 2005, LP’s Hines, Houlton, Jasper, Middlebury, Two Harbors, and Wilmington facilities achieved membership.
