LP Teams Up With SFI to Donate OSB for Ottawa Red Bull Crashed Ice Event

While you may be used to seeing LP OSB panels in floor, wall and roof applications, our products can also be used for truly “out of the box” designs. This year, Canada is celebrating its 150th birthday with a lineup of memorable, high-caliber events. As a part of the year-long celebrations, Ottawa recently hosted the Red Bull® Crashed Ice event, a 375-meter downhill urban track race near the Chateau Laurier hotel. The city of Ottawa partnered with The Sustainable Forestry Initiative, Inc. (SFI®) to arrange for responsibly sourced products to be donated and used to build the Red Bull Crashed Ice racetrack and other portions of the venue.

LP donated OSB to assist in building the 375-meter-longracetrack. According to a press release from SFI, over 85% of the wood used for the track will be recovered and repurposed for other Ottawa 2017 events. In addition, materials will be repurposed for Habitat for Humanity builds and ReStore locations in the Greater Ottawa region.

According to Red Bull, the entire project required a team of 150 people, including carpenters, electricians and other contractors, and 10,000 hours of labor to construct.

LP is committed to protecting the environment and working with other organizations like SFI to promote sustainable forestry and building practices. Read more about our other affiliations and partnerships here: http://lpcorp.com/sustainability/sustainable-forestry/
