Builder Confidence Levels Holding Steady

As the housing market continues to bounce back, builders’ confidence in the recovery remains steady, and has for the past few months. In fact, March’s National Association of Home Builders/ Wells Fargo Housing Market Index reported a 47 on the scale for builder confidence, which was an increase of one point from February’s reading.

After an unusually cold and wet winter, builders have reported concerns about being unable to keep up with demand now that the industry’s spring rebound is getting underway. The current inventory of new homes for sale is low as a result of the harsh weather and a limited supply of buildable lots and skilled labor.

Regardless, the market is expected to see increases in confidence levels over the next six months as the weather changes and building season is at its peak.
