Construction Job Openings Up In November
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ (BLS) most recent Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) showed the number of open, unfilled construction jobs increased in November 2014, according to a new report from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). On a seasonally adjusted basis, jobs in the second to last month of last year rose to 145,000, which marks the third highest total of unfilled positions in the construction sector post-recession.
On a three-month moving average basis, the rate of open, unfilled positions in the construction sector rose to 2.13 percent in November. Since early 2014, this rate has usually been higher than rates seen from 2001-2003, before the building industry’s boom.
