LP Products Are “Major League”
The National Association of Realtors® (“NAR”) recently published a blog comparing baseball to home sales because both are “games of numbers.” (See infographic below.)
It was a clever tie-in with Major League Baseball’s Opening Day, and some of the statistics were surprising:
- 8% of homebuyers are from the Silent Generation (age 72 and up), a group that includes former manager Jim Leyland, who led the Florida Marlins to a World Series championship
- 7% of homebuyers are single men, a category that included Yankees All-Star Derek Jeter for his entire 20-year career (although he got married last summer)
Inspired by the NAR, LP has drawn some parallels between our legendary engineered wood products and a few Major League Baseball legends:
LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing: The perfect “switch hitter” – Mickey Mantle and Pete Rose were two of the greatest switch hitters of all time, batting brilliantly from both sides of the plate. Likewise, LP FlameBlock Fire-Rated OSB Sheathing excels in its dual role: meeting fire code and delivering greater architectural design flexibility.
Legendary durability of LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding – Baltimore Orioles star Cal Ripken was rugged enough to play in 2,632 consecutive games. LP SmartSide siding is remarkably durable, too. At last year’s IBS Show, it got pelted repeatedly by the equivalent of 70 mph baseballs without experiencing a single dent.
LP® TechShield® Radiant Barrier Sheathing “blocks home” like a pro – Catcher Johnny Bench did a stellar job of blocking home so runners couldn’t score. LP TechShield Radiant Barrier Sheathing blocks up to 97% of the radiant heat in the roof panel from emitting into a home’s attic, reducing an attic’s temperature by up to 30° F.
Overall, home sales increased 2.6% last year—and that’s a grand slam worth celebrating.
