Confidence Continues to Grow Among the Builder Set

The latest NAHB/ Wells Fargo Housing Index increased by two points in August, coming out at 55, inching closer to 56, the 2014 high set in January, according to a new report from the National Association of Home Builders. This rise on the scale represents continued growth in homebuilder confidence as more and more buyers are returning to the market to make a purchase.

In addition to builder confidence, the index also measures expectations for the industry over the next six months, which show increases of two points to 65, the largest reading since exactly one year ago.

As far as regional indexes go, the Midwest increased by seven points to 55, while the West rose four points to 56. The Northeast rose two points to 38 and lastly, the South rose one point to 52.
