LP OSB ZB Family of Products Provides Structural Roof, Floor and Wall Solutions Engineered for Hawaii

Earlier this year, LP Building Products, the No. 1 OSB producer and leader in strand technology, introduced a line of OSB products with zinc borate, specifically engineered for Hawaii’s unique climate and building needs. While the products themselves are not new to the Hawaiian market, LP is relaunching the product brands, including LP® TopNotch® 350 ZB, LP® TechShield® ZB and LP® FlameBlock® ZB.

“We first introduced a line of OSB products designed for Hawaiian customers in 2011, combining the benefits of our high quality OSB structural panels and sub-flooring with warranted protection against termites and fungal decay,” said Judy Musgrove, director of marketing for LP. “We’ve seen success in the market over the past few years, and we’ve updated the product names to further set the line apart as a leading solution for Hawaiian builders.”

LP TopNotch 350 ZB combines the benefits of premium OSB sub-flooring with proven protection against termites and fungal decay. The product delivers strength, stiffness and premium moisture resistance and has a sanded, smooth surface that lays flat. The self-spacing tongue-and-groove design allows for easy installation, while the RainChannel notch system allows rainwater to drain during construction. LP TopNotch 350 ZB is backed by a 25-year Limited Warranty.

LP TechShield ZB is the original and No. 1 brand of radiant barrier sheathing with a 20-year Limited Warranty. It blocks up to 97 percent of the radiant heat in the panel from being emitted into the attic, lowering attic temperatures up to 30° F and reducing a home’s monthly cooling costs by up to 17 percent, while also providing protection against termites and fungal decay.

LP FlameBlock ZB is an ICC-certified (ESR-1365) structural fire-rated sheathing with a Class A Flame Spread Rating (ASTM E84) and a 20-year Limited Warranty. It combines fire resistance, structural strength and superior protection from termites and fungal decay in a single panel. The product has an Exposure 1 rating to withstand weather during normal construction delays. Available in a variety of PS2-rated categories and lengths, including Struc-1, LP FlameBlock ZB installs like conventional sheathing, requiring no special tools.
