November Employment Numbers Exceeded Expectations

The National Association of Home Builders recently cited data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), which showed that payroll employment saw a gain of 321,000 in November. According to the report, this increase was well above expectations for the month. Prior to November, monthly payroll employment gains saw an average uptick of 233,000.

Job gains in the U.S. have seen significant growth in recent months, serving as further evidence that the economic recovery is gaining momentum. In fact, the labor force is expanding at a rate of 5.8 percent, with over 119,000 jobs added to the workforce in November alone. In addition, the unemployment rate is between five and six percent currently, which is the top end of what some economists deem as normal.
