Open Construction Jobs Increased in October
The number of open, unfilled construction sector jobs went up in October, according to the latest Jobs Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In a new report from the National Association of Home Builders, the amount of open positions rose to 136,000 in October, up from 112,000 in September, marking the fourth highest total of unfilled construction jobs post-recession.
On a three-month moving average pace, the rate of open jobs in the construction sector held steady at around two percent in October, which is still higher than any level before the start of 2013.
Monthly employment data for November showed that total employment in both the home building and remodeling industries held strong at 2.332 million. Home builders took around 677,000 of that figure with residential specialty trade contractors coming in at 1.655 million.
