WoodWorks to Host National Forum on the Transition Toward Taller Wood Buildings
WoodWorks, an initiative of the Wood Products Council, will host a national symposium, Toward Taller Wood Buildings, in Chicago, Illinois on November 6 and 7. As a joint venture of several key North American wood associations as well as government agencies and other funding partners, WoodWorks was established to serve as a resource for technical support and education.
The organization’s goal with the symposium is to give attendees a practical perspective on North America’s evolution toward building taller wood structures, with the focus on how architects are using the International Building Code (IBC) to increase density at lower costs.
During the Chicago event, case studies showing the evolution of taller buildings will be featured, while research sessions will be held to present current information related to the feasibility and performance of these types of structures. Renowned architect Michael Green will also speak during the two-day symposium.
