Wall & Sill Plates

Product Photos

Shrinkage occurs in solid-sawn lumber wall plates as its moisture content dries from manufacturing conditions to equilibrium. When the moisture dries in lumber, the structure can sink by up to one inch over a four-story building. By using LP® SolidStart® LSL, you can reduce shrinkage. With LSL you'll get a wall plate that is uniform and less likely to split, resists moisture, and remains straighter than traditional lumber.
