Designed for impressive energy efficiency as the #1 original brand of radiant barrier sheathing, LP TechShield panels install easily while helping to block 97% of radiant heat from emitting into a home’s attic. Install this radiant barrier in an attic and help reduce temperatures by up to 30° F.
Keep these tips in mind to help your installation of LP TechShield Radiant Barrier go smoothly and to keep the product in great shape.
Install panels with the foil side down and the skid-resistant side, facing up. Be sure to wear skid-resistant shoes during radiant barrier installation in a roof application.
For an LP TechShield installation, space all panel edges 1/8 ̋ minimum. Install with the long dimension across supports and with the panel continuous over two or more spans. End joints should occur over framing.
In the absence of project specifications, nail panels 6 ̋ on center along supported ends and edges and 12 ̋ on center at intermediate supports. Fasten panels 3/8 ̋ from panel edges. Use 8d common nails for panels up to 1 ̋ thick; use 10d common nails for panels up to 1-1/4 ̋ thick.
Cover LP TechShield Radiant Barrier sheathing as soon as possible with roofing felt or shingle underlayment to protect against excessive moisture prior to roofing. This completes your radiant barrier installation.
