In an era where environmental responsibility is paramount, we are proud to announce a remarkable achievement: the LP® Structural Solutions portfolio has been officially designated as carbon negative. This milestone is a testament to our unwavering commitment to redefining construction materials for the better with a focus on sustainability, resiliency and groundbreaking advancements.
The LP Structural Solutions portfolio encompasses six products that are meticulously engineered not only to meet industry standards but surpass them in terms of environmental impact. In new environmental product declarations (EPDs) developed by LP and validated by ASTM International, LP® TechShield® Radiant Barrier, LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier, LP Legacy® Premium Sub-Flooring, LP® FlameBlock® Fire-Rated Sheathing and LP® TopNotch® 350 Durable Sub-Flooring have all been proven to store more carbon than is released during their entire life cycle. With the exception of LP NovaCore® Thermal Insulated Sheathing (which is too new to qualify for testing and analysis following its launch in March 2022), the entire LP Structural Solutions product portfolio is carbon negative. This achievement symbolizes a new era in construction where sustainability is seamlessly integrated with performance.
Here’s why using carbon-negative solutions matters to your business and your clients:
At LP, we’re not out to simply construct buildings; our goal is to build a sustainable legacy as we work toward Building a Better World™. Achieving carbon-negative status for five of the six products in the LP Structural Solutions portfolio is a testament to our values of innovation, dependability and environmental stewardship. As builders, leaders and partners in progress, we invite you to join us in creating a legacy that shapes the world for generations to come and helps build a future that’s stronger, smarter and greener than ever.

8 minIn our pursuit of sustainable and environmentally friendly products, we completed five LCAs and EPDs for our LP® Structural Solutions portfolio. Along with LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding, these EPDs demonstrate the carbon negativity of our products. That means that our products store more carbon than is released during their entire life cycle, making us a meaningful part of the climate solution.
It’s no secret that many developers, architects and builders are reducing lot size as one way to hold down housing costs and maintain profitability. In fact, the rise of zero-lot-line homes, odd-lot/infill development and compressed parcel spacing is helping shape a new housing normal for many communities. This downsizing is focusing attention on minimum fire separation distance.
