Shed Builder Spotlight: Heritage Building Co.

After decades of combined experience in the shed industry, James Paquette, Merritt Eaton and Jason Holden decided it was time to do the industry their own way. They founded Heritage Building Co. in June 2019, focusing on employee growth, commitment to its dealers, and intentional selection of materials to fuel innovation.

Fostering Innovation

For Heritage Building Co. innovation is at the essence of its shed designs, using customer and partner feedback to develop products that better suit homeowner needs. The company currently offers three variations of sheds, each equipped with high-quality materials and additional options for customized features.

“Consumers are moving away from the old shed mentality,” says Paquette, chief financial officer and founding partner of Heritage Building Co. “Now, homeowners are seeing their sheds as a way to add significant value to their homes when they’re built with durable products, such as LP® SmartSide® Trim & Siding that features a 5/50-year limited warranty. Whether it’s used as an in-law suite, studio, office or typical storage shed, customers are looking for high-end products to meet their individual goals.”

Designed for Sheds

Heritage Building Co. exclusively uses LP® Outdoor Building Solutions® products, including siding, trim, roof sheathing and flooring, in its Estate and Legacy series. Paquette’s prior experience with LP® ProStruct® Roof Sheathing with SilverTech® and LP® TechShield® Radiant Barrier Sheathing drove Heritage Building Co. to test out LP SmartSide Trim & Siding. After that, there was no turning back. Knowing the importance of superior quality, Heritage Building Co. only offers its premium sheds fully outfitted with LP Outdoor Building Solutions products.

“We’ve had other companies, such as fiber cement, approach us with free products and incentives to switch,” says Paquette. “But other products just don’t stand up to LP’s durability, proprietary engineered wood technology, and competitive warranty. Advantages of LP products translate well to the shed industry and its unique demands, making it the frontrunner.”

Better Business

Beyond the product, Paquette says he values the commitment LP has made to Heritage Building Co. as a business partner. LP offers various programs for co-branding and dealer education that have played a key role in its success and growth. “Being a newer business, we needed help with marketing, sales and educating our customers on the value of these products. LP stepped in and it’s been very helpful to have them as a partner,” says Paquette.
