LP Building Products Expands Availability of LP LongLength OSB Sheathing LP TopNotch Sub-Flooring

LP Building Products has announced plans to reopen its Clarke County OSB mill in Thomasville, Ala.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 11, 2013) — LP Building Products has announced plans to reopen its Clarke County OSB mill in Thomasville, Ala. The Clarke County mill will restart production during the second quarter of this year with plans to begin producing LP® LongLength OSB Sheathing by mid 2013, expanding availability of the product nationwide. LP will also increase production of LP® TopNotch® Sub-Flooring at its Hanceville, Ala., mill.

“Forecasts across the industry indicate the market is beginning a slow comeback, and LP Building Products is committed to ensuring supply for its customers during this time,” said Judy Musgrove, director of marketing. “Ramping up production in Clarke County and Hanceville allows us to continue to meet the demand of customers across the Southeast.”

Ramp up of the state-of-the-art facility in Clarke County has already begun. In addition to LP LongLength OSB production plans, the mill will also be producing LP TopNotch Sub-Flooring and LP® SuperStruct® Furniture Panels.

Appropriate for both single- and multi-story applications and installed vertically, LP LongLength OSB panels tie the sill plate to the top plate with only one panel. This continuous connection between wall plates provides engineers with additional options to meet building codes in high wind and seismic zones. LP LongLength OSB panels also help reduce cutting, blocking, and filler strips, thereby saving labor, time, and materials.

LP LongLength OSB panels produced out of the Clarke County OSB mill will be available in 9- and 10-foot lengths and will also eventually be available in Struc-1 panels.

The LP TopNotch line of products—produced by both the Clarke County and Hanceville mills—has been engineered specifically for sub-flooring applications. All products feature a self-spacing tongue-and-groove profile for easy installation and are designed to help protect against moisture absorption and edge swell. LP TopNotch products come with 25- to 50-year transferable limited warranties, and premium products come with no-sand warranties of up to 200 days.
