LP Increases Production of LP Legacy® Premium Sub-Floor with Addition of Hanceville, Ala., Mill

Additional capacity will help meet growing demand for the engineered sub-floor.

Nashville, Tenn. (April 26, 2018) – LP Building Products has added manufacturing capabilities for its new LP Legacy® premium engineered sub-floor to its mill in Hanceville, Ala. The increased capacity will help LP meet increasing demand for LP Legacy while expanding market availability and supply efficiencies into Texas and other regions west of the Mississippi.

To manufacture LP Legacy in Hanceville, which also produces LP® TechShield® radiant barrier sheathing, TopNotch® 250 and 350 sub-flooring, and other sheathing and industrial panels, the company had to make significant investments in its equipment there. These include upgrades to its resin application process to accommodate Gorilla Glue Technology® and higher-quality printing capabilities as part of its alliance and branding with Gorilla Glue. The printing enhancements also allow for the addition of fastener marks onto Legacy panels, providing for easy, accurate installation.

LP also implemented additional quality-control testing, which is essential for maintaining Legacy panels’ leading proprietary design values qualified by APA Product Report® PR-N127. LP Legacy is APA-rated with the highest bending stiffness in the industry and as one of the strongest panels.

“LP Legacy has seen tremendous success since it was introduced late last year. Our long-time customers appreciate having a new premium option, and the industry has acknowledged LP Legacy as one of the highest quality sub-floor panels on the market,” said Kayla Boyce, LP’s OSB Product Manager. “The addition of the Hanceville facility will ensure we can keep up with demand and efficiently expand into new regions as more and more builders embrace the product’s benefits. Dealers will also appreciate the ability to obtain mixed loads from the mill.”

Packed with more resin, wax, and wood strands, LP Legacy sub-floor boasts superior moisture resistance that prevents edge swell. LP Legacy sub-flooring uses Gorilla Glue Technology for one of the industry's strongest, stiffest sub-floors. The panel’s high density makes it ideal for hardwood floors, tile applications, and homes that may be exposed to the elements for longer periods during construction.

“The improved printing capabilities at the Hanceville plant are in part to ensure quality branding and highlight our alliance with Gorilla Glue,” said Boyce. “Gorilla Glue Technology not only plays a key role in the product’s performance, but it’s a name that consumers readily recognize. Builders can leverage that brand recognition in their own marketing efforts to promote the high quality and performance of their work.”

LP Legacy, which is also manufactured in LP’s Roxboro, N.C., and Sagola, Mich., facilities, carries a class-leading Covered Until It’s Covered no-sand warranty, as well as a Lifetime Limited Warranty that lasts as long as the home.
