The What’s & Why’s of the LP® SmartSide® 5/50 Limited Warranty

Any building professional will tell you that the quality of a building material is only as good as its warranty. This is why LP Building Solutions created an industry-leading limited warranty for our line of  LP® SmartSide® siding products. One that aims to ensure peace-of-mind for builders and homeowners.

While warranties are created to instill confidence in customers, they can sometimes be difficult to understand or ambiguous in nature, often leaving building professionals confused around exactly what is covered. To explain the LP® SmartSide® 5/50 Limited Warranty, we’ve put together a list of exactly what our warranty entails and why we provide certain types of coverage:

What: Our warranty includes a five-year, 100% labor and material replacement feature and a 50-year prorated material replacement feature where we will cover a portion of the material cost in the event of a replacement after the first five years.

Why: Our protection provides builders with confidence in the advanced durability of LP SmartSide siding products, which are engineered with waxes, resins and zinc borate to provide strength and powerful resistance to fungal decay and termites.

What: We offer a flexible limited warranty for our entire line of LP SmartSide siding products, which allows you to mix and match with other siding options and still retain the warranty.

Why: We know our customers take pride in their builds. Our comprehensive limited warranty allows for design flexibility if they want to mix materials to achieve a unique aesthetic.

What: Our limited warranty also covers damage from hail, up to 1.75 inches in diameter, when the siding is properly installed and maintained.

Why: 5,411 major hail storms were reported in 2015 in all 48 continental states, according to the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration. With this much severe weather, hail-resistant siding is a must-have, not to mention a huge selling point for builders in marketing to consumers.

What: Incorrect installation does not void entire warranty, just the parts that were damaged by incorrect installation

Why: While we provide many resources to promote proper installation, like training, guides, how-to videos, etc., we understand that mistakes can happen. We want to provide the same loyalty our customers have for us to them through a limited warranty that is flexible and fair.

Every jobsite has a ton of moving parts, from product shipments, supplies, and schedules to subcontractors and homeowners. It’s no wonder that many project teams can struggle to maintain quality jobsite communication and collaboration throughout the building process.
