Structural Solutions for Roofs in Wet Climates

Because moisture concerns are common across the United States, water-resistive roof underlayment is critical for any build. To help combat water intrusion, a roof underlayment provides a secondary barrier from moisture between the roof covering and the structure of the build.

LP WeatherLogic® Air & Water Barrier is a water-resistive overlay factory-laminated to a Structural I Rated Sheathing which, with LP WeatherLogic Seam & Flashing Tape, creates a combined roof sheathing and underlayment.

Why Choose Sheathing That Offers Rain Protection?

For rainy climates, a roof underlayment offers protection to help you make sure your build holds up during installation and after it’s complete. Without a water-resistive underlayment, prolonged exposure to rain can lead to damage. The structure of your building materials could be compromised, leading to longer timelines and lost money for you and your clients.

In choosing a roof underlayment for rain protection, Corey Walcott, homeowner and former LP Building Solutions employee, turned to LP WeatherLogic panels. During his home’s build, Walcott says, “February and March were very wet, and I didn’t want the build to be slowed down.” Because LP WeatherLogic panels are designed to resist moisture, Walcott’s build could proceed on schedule despite rough weather conditions—without damage.

Due to code requirements, roof underlayment to shield from water is required in all areas of the country. No matter the climate moisture is a concern, which means that roof underlayment will be crucial to the success of the build. Ideally, a water-resistive underlayment combined with roof sheathing will be the choice for your build.

Choose LP WeatherLogic® Structural I Wall and Roof Sheathing

For professionals, LP WeatherLogic Air & Water Barrier is the perfect versatile choice. Each LP WeatherLogic panel combines a powerful water-resistive roof underlayment with Structural I OSB for a time-saving solution. When you install LP WeatherLogic panels, you can take advantage of the good weather you do have with a quick installation process that eliminates the need for housewrap. It can also be installed in cold conditions (down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit).

“Using LP WeatherLogic Air & Water Barrier was a great experience,” said Tom Lawley of Fourtees Inc., the builder behind Walcott’s home. “The framers loved the ease of installation, particularly how the LP WeatherLogic tape made installation quicker, which allowed them to save time on the jobsite.”

Additionally, LP WeatherLogic panels boast strength and durability that is ideal for any climate, including cold, rainy parts of the country. The OSB itself combines wood strands oriented in cross-directional layers with waxes and resins for greater cross-panel strength and stiffness. The water-resistive overlay then safeguards the home from water. Along with the panels, the AAMA 711-13 approved seam and flashing tape helps to provide a tight building envelope.
“We didn’t want to worry about high air conditioning costs in the future and appreciate a tight building envelope to ensure the house’s longevity,” says Walcott.

When looking for roofing materials that deliver strength and keep moisture out, LP WeatherLogic Air & Water Barrier can help you build better even in the toughest climates.
