Housing Industry Begins Post Winter Climb
According to recent data from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the housing industry is bouncing back from the nation’s recent winter weather. March housing starts increased by 2.8 percent over February.
Even though the rise in starts was in the single-family sector only, this area of the housing industry increased by 6 percent, to a seasonally-adjusted annual rate of 635,000. The hardest hit areas, the Northeast and Midwest regions of the country, saw a significantly strong rise in single-family housing starts, with increases of 39 and 29 percent, respectively.
Housing’s recent recovery is further proof that, while the industry may be progressing slowly, it is still moving forward and conditions are right in the marketplace for continued growth.
